How to cancel YouTube TV (or pause it instead)
Cancelling YouTube TV takes about a minute once you know where the button is. The catch is that it isn't in the iPhone app, and the same screen also hides a pause option, separate add-ons and NFL Sunday Ticket rules that can keep charging you. Here is the exact path, the cases where someone else bills you, and what to check afterwards.
Where: tv.youtube.com > profile photo > Settings > Membership > Manage
Devices: any web browser, or the YouTube TV app on Android (not the iPhone or iPad app)
After cancelling: access until the end of the period you paid for; no partial refunds
Alternative: pause for 4 weeks up to 6 months
Base Plan price: $82.99/month at the time of writing

First: who bills you for YouTube TV? Cancel YouTube TV in a browser Cancel on iPhone, iPad and Android Pause instead of cancelling Add-ons and NFL Sunday Ticket Billed by Apple, Roku or your provider What happens after you cancel FAQFirst: who bills you for YouTube TV?
You cancel a subscription where you are billed, not on the device you watch on. For nearly everyone, YouTube TV is billed by Google through the Google Account you signed up with, so you cancel it in YouTube TV's own settings. That holds even if you watch on a Roku, a smart TV or an iPhone.
There are a few exceptions, covered further down: an old App Store subscription, a subscription bundled through your mobile carrier or internet provider, or a sign-up inside the Android app. If you're not sure, look at your bank statement. A charge from Google points to YouTube TV's settings; a charge from Apple or from your provider points to them.
Cancel YouTube TV in a browser (works for everyone)
- Go to tv.youtube.com on a computer or in your phone's web browser and sign in with the Google Account that pays for YouTube TV.
- Select your profile photo in the top corner.
- Choose Settings, then Membership.
- Select Manage next to your YouTube TV plan.
- Select Cancel membership, then confirm with Cancel.
Once it's done, reopen Settings > Membership. You should see the date your access ends rather than a next billing date.
Cancel YouTube TV on iPhone, iPad and Android
- iPhone and iPad: Google's instructions skip the app entirely. Open Safari or Chrome, go to tv.youtube.com, sign in, and follow the browser steps above. The YouTube TV app on iOS is for watching, not for managing your membership.
- Android: open the YouTube TV app (or tv.youtube.com in a browser), tap your profile photo, then Settings > Membership > Manage > Cancel membership > Cancel.
- TV or streaming stick: Google's cancel steps are written for a browser or the Android app, so grab your phone or a computer and use tv.youtube.com rather than hunting through menus with a remote.
Pause instead of cancelling
If you only want a break, say for the summer or between sports seasons, YouTube TV lets you pause instead. Go to Settings > Membership > Manage and use the slider to pick a pause length from 4 weeks up to 6 months, then select Pause.
- The pause begins when your current billing cycle ends, so you keep watching until then.
- While paused you can't watch and nothing new records. Recordings you already have stay in your library (they still follow YouTube TV's normal expiry rules).
- When the pause ends, you're charged automatically at your normal monthly price. You can also resume early at any time.
Don't let a paused plan restart behind your back
YouTube TV bills you directly, so no app can cancel it for you. What On Top of Subs does is make sure you never miss the date that matters. Add YouTube TV with your next billing date (or the day your pause ends) and you'll get a reminder before the charge lands, plus a clear view of what it adds to your monthly spend. For subscriptions billed through the App Store or Google Play, one tap opens the store's own cancellation screen. No bank login, no account. Free on iOS & Android.
Add-ons and NFL Sunday Ticket
Extra networks and packages you've added on top of the Base Plan are listed under Settings > Membership, and you can remove them one by one without touching the main plan. If you cancel the whole membership, you lose the add-ons too once your access ends.
NFL Sunday Ticket has its own rules, and they depend on how you bought it:
- Month-to-month: cancel any time and keep it until your next billing date. These plans don't renew for the next season.
- Season Pass: renews automatically before each new season at the full price. Once it has renewed, you can't cancel or get a refund for that season, even if you cancel YouTube TV. To avoid next season's charge, turn off the renewal before the renewal date: Settings > Membership, then Manage next to NFL Sunday Ticket.
- Monthly installments on a Season Pass are a full-season commitment. You can't stop them mid-season.
Two more things to know. Cancelling your YouTube TV membership also cancels your Sunday Ticket renewal. And you can't cancel the Sunday Ticket renewal while YouTube TV is paused; you have to unpause first.
Billed by Apple, Roku or your provider
- Apple (App Store): YouTube TV stopped accepting App Store billing in 2020 and moved subscribers to Google billing, so new sign-ups on iPhone are not App Store subscriptions. If you still see a YouTube TV line on an Apple receipt, cancel it in Apple's Subscriptions list instead (here's how). Refunds for anything charged by Apple go through Apple, not YouTube.
- Google Play: Google's own cancel steps for Android point to YouTube TV's Settings > Membership. If you signed up inside the Android app and also see YouTube TV in your Play Store subscriptions, you can manage it there (see our Google Play guide); otherwise use YouTube TV's settings.
- Roku and other TV devices: Roku's help pages list YouTube TV as a service you subscribe to directly, so it won't appear in your Roku subscriptions. Cancel it in YouTube TV's settings.
- Mobile carrier or internet provider: if YouTube TV came through your phone or internet plan, the provider handles the billing and its refund policy applies. Contact the provider about the charge, and check whether cancelling YouTube TV changes your bundle price.
What happens after you cancel
- You keep watching until the period ends. Cancelling stops the next charge. Access continues until the end of the time you already paid for, or the end of your free trial if you were on one.
- No partial refunds. YouTube TV doesn't refund or credit unused days. Refunds are only considered for things like a feature that doesn't work as described, and you request those from Google, Apple or your provider depending on who billed you.
- Recordings expire after 21 days. Once your access ends, each recording in your library expires 21 days later. Your library preferences are saved if you come back.
- Promo pricing may not return. If you cancel a discounted plan, you might not qualify for the same offer when you sign up again.
- Check the next statement. Make sure no YouTube TV charge, and no Sunday Ticket charge, shows up after the date you were given.

Yes. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, or until the end of your free trial. YouTube TV does not give refunds or credits for partial billing periods.
Yes. In Settings, then Membership, then Manage, use the slider to pause for 4 weeks up to 6 months. The pause starts when your current billing cycle ends, you can't watch or record while paused, and billing restarts automatically at your normal monthly price when the pause ends.
Cancelling your YouTube TV membership also cancels your NFL Sunday Ticket renewal. A month-to-month Sunday Ticket plan can be cancelled any time, but a Season Pass that has already renewed, including one paid in monthly installments, can't be cancelled or refunded for the current season.
After your access ends, each recorded program in your library expires after 21 days. YouTube TV keeps your library preferences in case you sign up again later.
